I AM ME

Do you know who you are? Do you know your purpose?
These are questions many of us ask ourselves and rarely do we find the answer. I found myself asking these questions one day as I was driving in my car. I do some of my best existential thinking while driving and doing dishes. The answer I came up with is… I Am Me!!
But what does that even mean? It means different things to different people and for me it means I am everything. I am smart, I am beautiful, I am strong, I am resilient, I am kind, I am a good parent and i am an exceptional lover. I managed to come up with this long list and was feeling pretty good about it, then that little negative voice that a lot of us have in our head came creeping out and made me think … Am I really that beautiful because I could stand to lose weight. If I was strong wouldn’t I have reached my goals by now? Or I could do more for my family and friends and who the hell said I was an exceptional lover !!! (insert evil laugh) . I’ll say this you just gotta love the yin and yang of the universe, for every positive there is a negative or for my fellow science nerds for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. I decided it was time to flip the script. But how? The easy answer is think positive!!
That’s right sounds too simple to be true but it is. The best way to get away from negative thought patterns is to think positive. Trust and believe I understand that is much easier said than done. I decided to start slow by using positive affirmations.
I began with just one simple affirmation that I would recite every morning when I woke and every night before bed and anytime in between if I felt those negative thoughts creeping in. Everyday I would affirm… I AM HAPPY, I AM HAPPY, I AM HAPPY . Now let me tell you this sh*t works!! By continually telling myself I was happy, guess what happened?
I WAS HAPPY!!
Your thoughts create your reality.
This is such an important thing to remember ,as well as it’s important to choose your affirmations wisely.
It is going to be necessary to choose affirmations that will enhance your life and your spirit. For example: I want to be rich and yes I can say “I am rich” all day everyday and I could very well become rich, but rich in what exactly? I have found it is best to be specific when creating affirmations. So instead of saying I am rich instead say “ I am financially abundant” or “I accept financial wealth into my life “ . Those are two of my favorite affirmations, and as you can see being more detailed makes a big difference. As I got comfortable with creating affirmations I learned how to use them to assist in my weightloss journey. This was probably the hardest thing to do. I can’t tell you how many times I stood in the mirror and said “ I am fat”. Low and behold I remained fat even when I thought I was doing all the right things. I had to flip the script and change my thought patterns . One of the things I learned about Universal Law is that the universe cannot recognize negatives. I won’t simply be able to say I am not fat. Instead I chose to say:
⒈ I am healthy
⒉ I choose healthy foods to fuel my body
⒊ I enjoy being physically active
All of those sound so much better especially because they are all things that a healthy physically fit person would say. I have actually found a whole new way to control my hunger and make progress with my weight loss by using affirmations in every aspect of my journey. I would like anyone that is reading it to take a challenge for me and write three of your own affirmations to kickstart whatever area of your life that needs a positive change whether it be weight loss, career, financial or relationships. It really doesn’t matter as long as you remember…
YOUR THOUGHTS CREATE YOUR REALITY.
The next time you begin to have negative thoughts about yourself, say the two most powerful words in the universe…
“I AM…”
